Becoming a Volunteer at Cotlands is a great way of showing your commitment to the community. There are various ways in which you may donate your time.

Local Volunteering:

For some donations in time, we do require a certain level of commitment on your part as it involves spending a significant amount of time with our children. As you may imagine, children need one-on-one attention – our programme facilitates this.

  • Prospective volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
Joining dates for 2011
  • 26 January 2011
  • 20 April 2011
  • 27 July 2011
  • 26 October 2011

On these dates, prospective volunteers are invited to attend an information evening presented at Cotlands at 18h00.  During this session we give an outline of Cotlands as an organisation, how you can get involved and what the requirements are.  You will also have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

After the information evening, prospective volunteers will be invited for a personal interview and then need to attend a training session (normally 2 weeks after the initial meeting).  Please be aware that this training session takes place on a Saturday.  All prospective volunteers are required to provide Cotlands with a Police Clearance Certificate, before they will be permitted to commence with volunteering.  This is in line with the new Children’s Act.

We request that volunteers who wish to get involved with the children commit to 12 months and spend at least 2 hours a week at Cotlands during the period.  These 2 hours may be spent on day, Monday to Friday from 07h00 until 19h00.

International Volunteering

Our International Volunteer programme is quite intense and requires a great level of commitment from individuals interested in the programme.

The purpose of this programme is to ensure our children receive the all-round attention, stimulation and assistance necessary for their development and well-being. The programme supports the organisation’s internal structures, policies and procedures, to which volunteers will be required to adhere.

There are various requirements that need to be considered before applying to become a volunteer at Cotlands. Importantly, the volunteer must be prepared to offer time, skills and expertise to the organisation free of charge while still willing to work according to the high standard of employment.

International volunteers from all over the world are keen volunteers and supporters of Cotlands. For an experience in cultural exchange while dedicating skills and time to assist Cotlands with meeting its objectives, please contact Bonnie Haack at bonnie@cotlands.org or telephone: +2711 683-7220.
